What is a Pre-registered car with delivery miles?
The most common Pre-registered New Car is one which has been registered by a dealership, this is usually to themselves.
The car is ‘new’ in the sense that it has not been used or owned by a third party.
In every respect this is a brand new car, and the savings on these can be very substantial indeed.
As the vehicle will be owned and therefore paid for by the dealership it is in the interests of the dealership to move this vehicle on quickly and at the lowest possible price.
In terms of manufacturers warranty, this will have started from the date of this first registration to the dealership.
Other reasons for Pre Registration are as follows:
The manufacturers often have a requirement to move vehicles into the retail arena in order to attain or maintain their percentage of market share.
To do this they will subsidise their dealer network with cash thus enabling the front end price of the vehicle to be discounted, sometimes substantially.
Pack deals are another method of achieving discounts. This is where a dealer will agree to take and register a mix of vehicle models to achieve a level of discount.
Dealers will have to buy these at that time, in so doing will achieve extra money off the vehicles as a bulk purchase.
In order to hit manufacturer targets, usually on a monthly basis, franchised dealers will also register vehicles. Some additional support in terms of regional bonuses or marketing support will be given which will assist in selling the vehicles.
