The Superb is a big hit with those who want value for money in a large executive/family car. Ideal for work and transporting the family, the Superb Greenline offers excellent economy and absolute buckets of space.

With the most legroom and the biggest boot in the class, the Superb is functional and practical. Skoda have made a robust, no frills car which does everything you want it to, but at a price which makes it even more attractive than the Mondeo. With so many large executive cars on the market to choose between you have to consider exactly what you want before making a decision. But Skoda have nailed it with this one, the Superb really does live up to its name. It is comfortable, big, stylish and won't dent your wallet.

On the continent this car is seen as a direct competitor to the BMW 5 series, especially when you consider the size of the Superb. There is a huge amount of space in the back, as much as many luxury cars. And yet available at a price which is very competitive against executive models. Taking the lead from Volkswagen, Skoda have kept the build quality high. The interior may be nothing to shout about, but the Superb feels solidly made and isn't going to fall apart any time soon. In looks as well, it is stylish and attractive without being overly ostentatious. Like the bodywork, it is smart and looks more expensive than it is.

The handling is what you'd expect from a large car, the Superb gives you a smooth ride and isn't going to be phased by anything. The Greenline engine is one of the most efficient in its class, delivering respectable performance with what is frankly amazing efficiency. 129g of CO² per km puts the Superb in band D, and moving this big car 55 miles for every gallon of fuel (combined). If you are commuting along the motorway regularly, then the Superb is ideal. For the small price increase over the standard 1.9 TDi, you get a surprisingly large amount of extras, besides the more efficient engine. Low drag tyres on the 16' alloys, cruise control, tinted windows in the back, lowered suspension and more chrome and metallic detailing. Not to mention that you are going to make back the extra money you spent on the car in the first place. The increased fuel economy means that 7000 miles of use would save you (on average) the difference in price.

The biggest testament to how much Skoda got right is that owners of the Superb are pleasantly surprised by it. the 1.9 TDi Greenline engine built for fuel economy and rated at 105 bhp is surprisingly capable in such a large car. The car is responsive and quite nippy in low gears, while having power to spare for motorway driving. The improved economy is found in the improved aerodynamics, weight-saving measures and adjustments to the gearing.
