Ford have always had a reputation for affordable cars, but it has only been the last couple of decades when they started making truly excellent cars for that value. The Fiesta, in its current incarnation is another example of Ford making a drivers car for the driver on a budget.
The Fiesta 1.25 Edge may not be the flashiest hot hatch on the road, but this is a perfectly serviceable small car which is, above all, fun. The handling in a Fiesta has been described as 'far better than it deserves to be'. Even though the 1.25l engine doesn't produce enough power to qualify the Fiesta Edge as 'sporty' it is enough to make the driving experience enjoyable. And it delivers 51.4 (combined) mpg with 127 g/km of CO² (placing the Fiesta 1.25 in band D). Not to mention the low insurance group.
All Fiesta's are surprisingly large, Ford have managed that difficult trick of increasing the size of a small car without spoiling the handling. The Fiesta is still agile and responsive. By making a car which has more space than it should and being positively enjoyable to drive, it is quite amazing that Ford do such a good job for this price.
