Selecting a Prestige Car
What dealerships see time and time again with customers looking for prestige models is that they generally know exactly what they want. This may not be a specific model, but the customer usually knows what they want from the car. Be it performance, comfort, style or just a feeling of sitting in absolute luxury.
If you aren’t sure what you want, then it is best to work out what your budget is and see what is available for that price. Take a few for a test drive. Don’t worry if none seem quite perfect, there is plenty of choice so you will find something to suit.
Even if you think you know exactly what you want, the fact that a prestige car usually comes with a prestige price, makes it a good idea to try it out before firmly settling on a specific model. Some companies specialise in short term leasing of prestige cars, so you could take one out for a weekend before deciding that this is what you want to buy.
Take your time, pay attention to the details and come to a firm choice. Take reviews with a pinch of salt and try the car out for yourself. Remember, what you are looking for in a prestige car may not be what the reviewer was looking for. Check what the depreciation is likely to be, the fuel consumption and the tax. The treasury tends to look at making premium cars less attractive, but some otherwise similar prestige models may have very different fuel consumption and emission values, making one far less expensive to run than the other.
This may seem like a lot, but nothing feels as good as driving that perfect car and knowing it is right for you. Likewise, nothing can grate on the nerves like driving a car which is wrong and knowing that you spent a small fortune on it.
